Residents looking to help Newark-area children head back to school have a drop-off point right in Livingston: the Presbyterian Church of Livingston at 271 West Northfield Road is accepting school supplies through the end of August.

The church, led by Pastor Dan Martian, is collecting paper, notebooks, backpacks, pens and crayons for children in the Newark area, according to the West Essex Tribune. Donations can be dropped off Tuesdays through Thursdays between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

No appointment is needed.

The drive is separate from the church's ongoing role accepting food and household essentials on behalf of Livingston's Project Independence during LPI's summer break. This collection focuses specifically on school supplies bound for Newark.

The congregation has an established outreach relationship with Newark, where members regularly volunteer at the Bistro soup kitchen. The specific Newark organization receiving the school supplies has not been named publicly.

The effort is one of several back-to-school drives active in the area this month.
