Public Service Electric and Gas will mill and then repave a stretch of Old Short Hills Road in Livingston starting Monday, Oct. 12, bringing traffic disruptions and no-parking restrictions to the corridor.

The utility work covers Old Short Hills Road between East Cedar Street and East Northfield Road, according to a Livingston Township notice posted Tuesday, Oct. 6. Milling begins Oct. 12. Paving is scheduled to start Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Crews will be on site from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on workdays. The township warned residents to expect traffic pattern changes, loud noise and heavy equipment along the corridor.

No-parking signs will go up 24 to 48 hours before work begins on each block. The township asked residents to abide by all posted signs.

The notice did not specify whether the road will close entirely or remain partially open, or what prompted the utility work. No detour route was named.

All dates are weather-dependent and subject to change, the township said.
