Bennington Road in Livingston will close to through traffic starting Monday, Sept. 28, as crews begin installing new curbs and drainage.
The township announced the project in a civic alert Thursday, Sept. 24. The start date is weather permitting.
During construction, the street will be open to local traffic only, from about 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents whose driveways fall in the work zone could lose access for up to 24 hours. The contractor will knock on doors before blocking any driveway, according to the notice.
Residents displaced from their driveways may park on adjacent streets overnight but must first call the Livingston Police Department at 973-992-3000 and choose option 4 before 2 a.m., per the township's parking rules. Permission will not be granted if the road is snow-covered.
The township described the curb and drainage work as the project's "first phase" but has not published a timeline for later phases or an expected completion date.
