Millburn beat Paterson Kennedy 34-6 on Friday, Sept. 25, in a Senior Night rout that extended the Millers' winning streak to two games.

The victory improved Millburn to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in Super Football Conference (SFC) Ivy Gold play, putting the Millers atop the division, according to MaxPreps. Paterson Kennedy fell to 2-3.

Millburn's offense was scoreless in the first quarter before erupting for 28 points in the second. The Millers led 34-0 before Kennedy scored a late touchdown to set the final margin, per the MaxPreps box score.

Senior linebacker Emil Carames anchored the defensive effort. NJ.com named Carames the SFC Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 28, crediting him with four tackles, two tackles for loss, two sacks and a fumble recovery against the Knights. Carames has recorded 14 tackles this season and 32 career tackles heading into the award, according to NJ.com.

The two-game streak has steadied a season that started unevenly. Millburn opened with a 31-0 loss at Pingry on Aug. 29, bounced back with a 26-0 shutout at Dwight Morrow on Sept. 4, then fell 14-12 to Dover on Sept. 10. A 7-0 road win at Bergenfield on Sept. 19 started the current run.

With three SFC Ivy Gold games remaining, the Millers control their path to a division title. Millburn travels to Bergen Tech in Hackensack on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 6 p.m. for another league game. The Millers then visit Belleville on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m.
