Mount Pleasant Animal Shelter is bringing adoptable dogs and cats, along with rescue partners, to the Livingston Gazebo on Sept. 19 for its 6th annual Pet Palooza & Food Truck Festival.
Admission is free.
The event runs from noon to 6 p.m. at 7 Civic Center Rd., according to the West Essex Tribune. More than 50 vendors, retailers and local businesses will line the grounds alongside food trucks, a canine agility course, a children's play area and DJ music, according to the event listing on TAPinto.
New this year is the Shelter Pet Gala, a red-carpet walk that puts adoptable animals from the shelter and its rescue partners on display. The shelter said the gala will help the animals get the exposure they need to find new homes.
Terrie Carr, host of The Carr Stereo Podcast and an on-air personality, will emcee the afternoon alongside DJ Mark. The lineup also includes an amateur talent show and a canine fashion show where dogs compete for prizes. Pet owners can register their animals for both competitions at njshelter.org/petpalooza.
Four rescue organizations will join the shelter at the festival: Sedona Shepard Sanctuary, O.S.C.A.R., Cold Nose Warm Heart and Ziva Animal Rescue. Together, the groups aim to place as many animals in homes as possible, the shelter said in its event listing.
Mount Pleasant Animal Shelter, based in East Hanover at 194 Route 10, rescues nearly 1,000 animals each year, according to its website. JoAnn Bartoli is the event contact listed on the shelter's page.
