The Livingston Public Library will host a free virtual lecture on New Jersey's haunted history and ghost lore on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.

Historian and paranormal investigator Greg Caggiano will lead the Zoom presentation, titled "The Haunted History of New Jersey." The program promises a tour of the state's spookiest corners just ahead of Halloween.

Caggiano's lecture will cover a Royal Governor's former residence, a Victorian mansion, a house with Revolutionary War notoriety and a cemetery known for its eerie reputation, according to the library's event listing on Patch. Revolutionary War-era homes, legendary folklore and haunted mansions are all on the agenda. The program will also feature New Jersey's most famous legend: the Jersey Devil.

Caggiano draws on years of paranormal investigations at some of the state's most historic sites. He has served on the boards of two museums: the Proprietary House in Perth Amboy and the Atlantic Highlands Historical Society at the Strauss Mansion Museum, according to his official website.

He co-founded Ghosts on the Coast in 2015 with lifelong friend Brett Bodner. The project has grown into a team of historic researchers and investigators with more than 65,000 social media followers and about two million viewers each month.

An award-winning author, Caggiano wrote "Legends and Hauntings of the Jersey Bayshore," published in 2024 by Fonthill Media. He holds two bachelor's degrees in history and education from New Jersey City University, with active state teaching certifications in both fields.

Registration is required for the lecture. The library will email the Zoom link the day before the event. The program is supported by The Friends of the Livingston Public Library.
