Mack Rodriguez scored twice on return plays to lead Millburn to a 30-20 road win over Belleville on Thursday, Oct. 8.

Rodriguez returned a blocked punt for one touchdown and took an interception back for another, powering a Millburn defense that forced turnovers all night, according to Millburn Athletics. He also recovered a fumble and finished with two tackles, NJ.com reported.

The Millers jumped ahead early. Adib Curi opened the scoring with a rushing touchdown in the first quarter. Millburn carried an 18-0 lead into halftime and stretched it to 30-0 in the third quarter before Belleville scored 20 unanswered points in the fourth.

The win moved Millburn to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the Super Football Conference Ivy Gold division, good for first place, according to MaxPreps. The Millers have won four straight. They have scored 30 or more points in each of their last three games.

Linebacker Emil Carames, who earned SFC Defensive Player of the Week honors earlier this season after the Millers' 34-6 win over Paterson Kennedy, posted two sacks against Belleville, according to Patch.

After the Sept. 25 Senior Night win over Paterson Kennedy, senior captain Owen Skinner told The Miller, "Our goals for the rest of the season are to finish first in our division and then make the playoffs and hopefully go to the Ivy Championship." Four wins later, the Millers sit atop the Ivy Gold standings with three regular-season games left.

Millburn travels to North Bergen on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.m.
