Families have one more chance to catch a free outdoor movie at the Oval before summer wraps up.

The Livingston Recreation & Senior Services Department will screen The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at sundown at the gazebo in Memorial Park. It's the final installment of the 2026 Summer Nights at the Oval series. Admission is free, and no pre-registration is required.

The township posted the announcement on X on Monday, Aug. 24, calling it the last summer movie of the season and encouraging residents to come out to the Oval one more time before the series ends.

In the animated film, Mario, Luigi, Peach and Yoshi journey into space to rescue Princess Rosalina, who has been kidnapped by Bowser Jr. The villain plans to drain Rosalina's power to build a universe-destroying weapon and free his shrunken father, Bowser.

The Aug. 26 screening caps a four-week August movie lineup that included Wicked for Good on Aug. 5, GOAT on Aug. 12 and A League of Their Own on Aug. 19. The broader Summer Nights at the Oval program, organized by the Recreation & Senior Services Department, ran all summer with arts events in June, live concerts in July and the Wednesday movie nights in August, according to the township's event page.

The series was also previewed by the West Essex Tribune earlier this summer.

No further Oval movie nights are scheduled after Wednesday's screening.
