Livingston Township crews will be on Crest Terrace on Thursday, July 16, to repair a water main, with work running from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Residents near the work zone may experience water interruptions during that window, according to a public notice the township posted Wednesday, July 15. The township advised drivers to plan alternate routes around Crest Terrace while crews are on site.

If tap water appears discolored or contains air after the repairs, the township instructs residents to run the cold water faucet closest to their water meter until it runs clear.

The Crest Terrace job is the second scheduled water main repair Livingston has announced in the same week. Crews completed similar work on Hickory Place on Tuesday, July 14, during the same 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. window. That notice also warned of possible water interruptions, discolored water, and traffic delays.

The back-to-back repairs come as the township manages its water infrastructure under drought conditions. Livingston declared a Water Emergency on Thursday, July 2, citing extreme heat and limited precipitation, and imposed temporary outdoor water use restrictions that remain in effect.

The Water Emergency concerns conservation of supply and is separate from the scheduled maintenance work.
