Livingston wants to know what residents want the township to focus on for the next two years — and the clock is ticking.
The township's Vision 20/20 Committee opened its 11th community priorities survey June 29. Responses are confidential, and the deadline is Monday, July 20. Fill it out online, or grab a paper copy at the library, the Senior/Community Center, or Town Hall.
The Vision 20/20 Committee is a Township Council-appointed group that surveys the community every four years to help shape a long-term vision for Livingston, according to the township's website.
The survey lands right as the township hashes out what happens to the former Livingston Mall. The site at 112 Eisenhower Parkway was designated an "Area in Need of Redevelopment" in 2024, and officials have since held listening sessions on its future.
So far, 15.8 acres on the old Sears site have been approved for 376 housing units, part of the township's state affordable housing requirements. A conceptual plan exists for the remaining 43 acres, but nothing formal has been submitted to the planning board yet.
Macy's, the mall's last anchor store, closed its Livingston location earlier this year. The site's decline has been hard to miss: Livingston police posted a warning in June of "zero tolerance for anyone visiting this property with criminal intent."
"It was almost like looking at a sinking ship because you knew it was gonna close down soon," longtime resident Carla Harrilal told NJ.com.
Take the survey by July 20, or pick up a paper copy at the library, Senior/Community Center, or Town Hall.
