Heavenly Finds Thrift Shop in Livingston opens its 71st season Monday, Sept. 14, on a new day. The shop is switching from Tuesdays to Mondays.

The change ends more than 70 years of Tuesday shopping at the nonprofit thrift store, which has operated since 1955 at 90 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave. in the Rectory House next to the Ritz Diner. The shop will keep its usual hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"Please note our new day," Cynthia Brady of Heavenly Finds told the West Essex Tribune. Brady said the hours would remain the same.

The day change came at the request of the Diocesan Landlord, according to the Church of Holy Spirit in Verona, which operates the shop as one of its ministries. The church's website confirmed the new Monday schedule. The shop's own website still listed Tuesdays as of Sept. 9, so shoppers should rely on the church's updated information.

Formerly known as St. Peter's Thrift Shop, Heavenly Finds sells donated clothing and household goods at low prices. All proceeds go to local programs that address food insecurity and support at-risk children, according to the shop's website. The store has filled that role in Livingston for seven decades, first as a ministry of St. Peter's Church and now under the Church of Holy Spirit.

Shoppers who want to donate items can drop them in two large green bins on the shop's porch. Donations must be clean and in excellent, sellable condition. Questions can be directed to [email protected].

The shop will be open every Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through the 2026-27 season. No closing date has been announced.
