Millburn is turning Taylor Park into a soccer fan’s dream on Sunday, July 19, when residents can watch the FIFA World Cup final on a giant LED screen just miles from where the championship match will be played.

The free World Cup Final Viewing Party, hosted by Explore Millburn-Short Hills, will bring the excitement of the tournament to downtown Millburn with live music, local food vendors, children’s activities and a community-wide celebration from 2 to 6 p.m. The match kicks off at 3 p.m. at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.

The event is the finale of the business improvement district’s multi-week World Cup Celebration Series, which has aimed to bring soccer fans into downtown shops and restaurants throughout the tournament.

“There's something for everyone to enjoy,” Explore Millburn-Short Hills Executive Director Steve Grillo said in a statement.

The celebration will also include open alcohol consumption in Taylor Park during the event, according to the organization’s April 23 board meeting minutes.

Beyond the watch party, the series features a World Cup Retail & Restaurant Guide highlighting local businesses with themed specials and a World Cup Mailbox Raffle where shoppers can submit receipts from participating businesses for a chance to win gift cards.

IDB Bank is the event’s signature sponsor, with JAG Physical Therapy as a supporting sponsor. Main Street Pops, a township-contracted event company, is managing logistics.
