Millburn's Phase 2 summer paving project has spilled past its original completion date, with six roads closed Thursday, Aug. 6, for milling and paving work that was expected to wrap up the day before.
Contractor JA Alexander had been scheduled to finish the project by Wednesday, Aug. 5, according to Patch reporting published July 22 citing township information. But the Millburn Township CivicAlerts page posted a fresh round of closures Thursday morning, including a new location at 418 Millburn Ave. that did not appear on Wednesday's list.
Thursday's closures
- 418 Millburn Ave. — 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- 150 JFK Parkway — 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Taylor Rd. S at Dogwood Dr. — 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- 249 Millburn Ave. — 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- 85 Woodland Rd. — 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Adams Ave. at Jefferson Ave. — 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The list is shorter than Wednesday's eight-location roster. Four sites closed Aug. 5 — Old Short Hills Rd. at South Orange Ave., South Terrace at Twin Oak Rd., and Puritan Rd./Hamilton Rd./Meeker Pl./Willow St. — appear to be finished.
The township has not announced a new end date for the project.
What residents should know
Residents on affected streets should remove vehicles from driveways by 7 a.m. Motorists should follow posted detour signs and drive cautiously through work zones.
The Phase 2 project has been running weekdays since the week of July 22, with daily closure alerts posted to the township's CivicAlerts page. Work hours run from approximately 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.
