Millburn residents can trade the sirens for smiles this August as the Police Department hosts National Night Out at Taylor Park, bringing officers and neighbors together for an evening of free food, music, games and family activities.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Taylor Park, 100 Main St. The township announced the gathering Tuesday, July 7, describing it as “a night of free family fun.” A start time and full activity lineup have not yet been released.
National Night Out is a nationwide community policing event held each year on the first Tuesday in August. Since launching in 1984, the program has aimed to build stronger relationships between residents and law enforcement — giving communities a chance to meet the officers behind the badges before they ever need to make a call.
Millburn police are hoping residents will “report” for a good time, with plenty of opportunities to connect, ask questions and get to know the department outside of a traffic stop or emergency response.
The event is free and open to the public. Residents are encouraged to check the township website for updates as details are finalized.
