Millburn Township residents have three ways to cast their ballots in the Nov. 3 general election: during the in-person early voting period, at their polling place on Election Day or by mail.
The township posted the reminder on its official X account Tuesday, Sept. 22, directing voters to the township website for details.
Early voting
In-person early voting runs Saturday, Oct. 24, through Sunday, Nov. 1. According to the New Jersey Division of Elections, hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
The state elections site lists Essex County early voting locations in Bloomfield, East Orange, Fairfield, Irvington, Montclair, Newark, Verona and West Orange. A designated site for Millburn and Short Hills voters was not listed as of Sept. 22. Residents should check the township website or contact the Essex County Board of Elections for the nearest location.
Mail-in and registration deadlines
Residents who prefer to vote by mail should apply by Tuesday, Oct. 27. In-person mail-in ballot applications are due by Monday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m., according to ABC 7.
Anyone not yet registered has until Tuesday, Oct. 13, to sign up. Voters can check their registration status through New Jersey's Voter Information Portal on the state elections website.
What's on the ballot
The Nov. 3 ballot carries several contested races for Millburn voters. In Essex County's District 4, which includes Millburn, incumbent Commissioner Leonard Luciano faces Republican nominee Adam Kraemer, Patch reported. County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo Jr. is seeking a seventh term against Republican challenger Maritza Mathews, according to Montclair Local News.
Patch also reported that candidates have filed for Millburn's first municipal election under the new council-manager form of government, which township voters considered in a June 16 special referendum.
Election Day polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
How to prepare
Residents can find voting information on the Millburn Township website or by calling (973) 564-7000. The voter registration deadline of Oct. 13 is the first cutoff on the calendar, about three weeks away.
