Millburn's annual outdoor music festival won't happen Saturday, Sept. 26, after all.
The Millburn Education Foundation moved Rocktoberfest X from Sept. 26 to Saturday, Oct. 3, at Taylor Park, citing the nor'easter bearing down on New Jersey. The free, all-ages festival had been set to run from noon to nearly 10 p.m.
The foundation said on its website that safety of performers, vendors, volunteers and the community drove the decision. The National Weather Service issued a high wind watch covering Sept. 26, with gusts up to 60 mph possible, NJ.com reported.
The postponement affects a packed lineup. Short Hills resident Jessica Layton, an NBC/MSNBC news anchor, is set to sing the National Anthem and emcee the event. Leon & The Peoples, a New York City reggae-soul band, is scheduled to headline the Bauer Center Stage. Student acts include Millburn High School's Soulfege a cappella group, the Midnight Winds jazz-rock fusion band and the Andaaz Dance Club's Bollywood performance.
Paper Mill Playhouse's New Voices of 2026 program will perform a selection from its world-premiere production "On Vacation" on the Riverside Stage. The playhouse is also partnering with MEF on an Inclusivity Zone offering arts, crafts and theater workshops, plus a quiet, air-conditioned space inside the Bauer Center.
The Kid Zone, open noon to 8 p.m., features inflatables, rides, carnival games and face painting. Early-bird wristbands were priced at $45 through Friday, Sept. 25. The foundation has not said whether that deadline will shift with the new date.
Other draws include a cornhole tournament ($50 per two-person team, double elimination starting at 1 p.m.), food vendors, artisan shopping and a beer and wine garden. A silent auction offers New York Giants or Jets tickets at MetLife Stadium, with all proceeds going to the foundation, which funds programs in Millburn Township schools.
The after-party starts at 9 p.m. at Boxcar Bar & Grill, 25 Chatham Rd. in Short Hills, with the band Higher Ground.
Rocktoberfest X is now set for Saturday, Oct. 3, at Taylor Park. Admission is free. Check the foundation's website for updates.
