Millburn's annual Tour de Millburn bike ride has a new date: Sunday, Oct. 4, after projected rain forced a postponement of the original Sept. 20 ride.

The township confirmed the reschedule on its official calendar, listing the event for 8 a.m. at 375 Millburn Ave., in front of Town Hall. Registration has reopened for anyone who still wants to ride, the township said in a post on X on Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Online sign-ups cost $20 per rider through CommunityPass and close Wednesday, Sept. 30. Riders who miss that deadline can still register the morning of the event and should bring their receipt to the check-in table, according to the township's Tour de Millburn page.

The ride offers three routes.

Advanced cyclists 16 and older tackle a 15-mile course starting at 8 a.m. Experienced riders 10 and older follow with a seven-mile route at 8:30 a.m. Families, seniors and newer riders begin a two-mile loop at 9 a.m., Patch reported.

The original Sept. 20 ride was called off before the weekend, with the township citing projected rain. Separately, a nor'easter began hitting the East Coast on Saturday, Sept. 26, flooding roads in coastal New Jersey communities and knocking out power to thousands, NPR reported. Gov. Mikie Sherrill declared a State of Emergency across eight coastal counties on Friday, Sept. 25, though Essex County, where Millburn sits, was not among them.

Goldman Sachs Gives, Millburn Indoor Golf Club and CycleBar/Pure Barre are sponsoring the ride. Millburn Indoor Golf Club will run a raffle at the finish line, and CycleBar/Pure Barre will lead stretches 10 minutes before each start. The township is also seeking volunteers for setup and event-day duties; residents can sign up at twp.millburn.nj.us/TDMvolunteer.
