Four candidates are competing for three seats on the Livingston Township Council in the Nov. 3 general election.
Incumbent Democrats Councilman Ed Meinhardt and Deputy Mayor Ketan Bhuptani are seeking re-election alongside fellow Democrat Stacey Abenstein, according to the West Essex Tribune. Republican Tim Foley is the sole GOP challenger.
Three Democrats and one Republican are vying for three open seats, meaning the final council makeup will depend on how Livingston voters rank their picks.
The West Essex Tribune has been publishing weekly candidate statements ahead of the election. The series, now in its fourth week, gives each candidate up to 200 words to address a prompt on township issues. Topics have included property taxes, infrastructure and the township's strengths and weaknesses.
The voter registration deadline passed on Tuesday, Oct. 13, according to the Livingston Township Clerk's Office. Voters will also cast ballots for board of education, congressional and county-level offices on the same day.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
