Livingston high school students will pair up with residents 62 and older to help them learn smart devices at a free workshop series starting Tuesday, Oct. 13.

The program, called "Keeping up with Technology (ages 62+)," is run by Livingston Recreation and Senior Services. Sessions take place at the Livingston Senior/Community Center, 204 Hillside Ave., from 3 to 4 p.m.

Six sessions are scheduled between October and December, with two dates each month. The township's announcement lists the following dates:

  • Oct. 13 and Oct. 27
  • Nov. 10 and Nov. 24
  • Dec. 8 and Dec. 22

All six dates fall on Tuesdays. The township describes the series as meeting "the 2nd Tuesday of the month," though the schedule also includes a second session later each month. Whether the program continues into 2027 has not been announced.

Participants must bring their own phone, tablet or computer. The workshops are free, but pre-registration is required.

Residents can sign up online through Community Pass or in person at the Senior/Community Center, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The township's announcement does not name the specific high school or faculty adviser organizing the student volunteers.

For questions about the program, residents can call the Recreation and Senior Services Department at 973-535-7925, option 0, or email [email protected].
