Livingston police will be back on Chestnut Street on Saturday, Aug. 15, for a full-day training exercise, four days after completing a similar drill at the same location.
The township's civic alert system announced the exercise Thursday, Aug. 13, giving residents two days' notice. Officers will train in the Chestnut Street area from approximately 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The township described the session as a standard training exercise and said residents do not need to be alarmed if they see police activity in the area during that window.
The department held an identical drill at the same spot on Tuesday, Aug. 11, as we reported Aug. 10. For that exercise, police posted signage on and around the property reading "Police Training Exercise. This is a scheduled training drill." It is not confirmed whether similar signage will be in place Saturday, but the department has followed that practice at prior training locations.
Residents near Chestnut Street should expect a visible police presence throughout the day Saturday but do not need to take any action.
The Livingston Police Department has conducted multiple training exercises at residential locations across the township in 2026, including drills at Garnet Terrace and North Ashby Avenue in July. The department posts advance public notices ahead of each exercise through the township's CivicAlerts system and its official social media accounts.
Saturday's drill is the second announced exercise at the Chestnut Street site in a single week. The township's alert did not indicate whether additional training dates are planned at that location.
