Residents looking for a free, structured way to stay active this fall can sign up for the Millburn Health Department's Autumn Walking Club, a nine-week program meeting every Friday at 10 a.m. from Sept. 18 through Nov. 13.
The township announced the program on Thursday, Aug. 13, through its official social media accounts. Pre-registration is required. Walk-ins are not accepted.
To reserve a spot, residents can contact J.E. Kelly at the Millburn Health Department at 973-535-7961 ext. 7110 or email [email protected]. The department has not disclosed how many spots are available.
The walking club is part of a broader fall wellness push from the Millburn Health Department. The same office is hosting a free blood pressure seminar on Tuesday, Aug. 18, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Millburn Free Public Library, 200 Glen Ave. That event also requires pre-registration through the same phone number and email.
Neighboring Livingston earned the top "Healthy Town" designation from the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute in 2025, with physical activity and walkability identified as key focus areas for the award.
The exact meeting location for the walking club has not been confirmed by the Health Department. An Instagram post tagging the program referenced the South Mountain Recreation Complex area, but the official announcement did not specify a starting point. Residents should confirm the location when registering.
