Millburn property owners have until Sunday, Nov. 1, to pay fourth-quarter taxes before interest charges apply.

Payments received at the tax office after Monday, Nov. 9, will be charged interest at 8% on the first $1,500 owed and 18% on anything above that, according to a notice from the Millburn Township Tax Collector. The Nov. 9 cutoff accounts for the weekend following the Nov. 1 due date.

Residents can pay in person at Town Hall, 22 East Willow Street in Millburn, or online through the township's payment portal. The online option is a free direct debit from a checking account. The township advises making online payments before midnight or after 6 a.m., because the system updates files overnight.

Homeowners whose taxes are paid through a mortgage lender should disregard the notice. The printed confirmation page from an online payment serves as the official receipt; email confirmations do not count as proof of payment, the township said.

Residents who need help with the online process can call the Tax Collector's office at (973) 564-7084.
