Millburn Township will begin road improvements on Long Hill Drive on Monday, Oct. 26. The project covers the stretch between White Oak Ridge Road and Parsonage Hill Road.

The first phase focuses on curbing and drainage work, which the township said should have minimal impact on drivers and pedestrians, according to a township notice posted Oct. 20. Milling and paving will follow at a later date and will limit traffic access along the corridor.

The township said it will release further details as the paving schedule takes shape.

Dale Drive residents should also expect limited traffic access and schedule changes once the milling and paving phase begins. The township has not announced specific detour routes.

How the project got here

The Millburn Township Committee unanimously approved Resolution 26-062 at its Feb. 17 meeting, awarding a professional engineering contract to Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. of Morris Plains for the Long Hill Drive Road Improvement Projects, Phase I and Phase II. The contract covers what the township calls its 2026 and 2027 Municipal Aid projects.

Mayor Frank Saccomandi presided over the meeting. Committee members Jamie Serruto, Michael Cohen, Ben Stoller, and Mr. Cosgrove were also present. Serruto made the motion to approve the consent agenda, which included the Long Hill Drive resolution among Resolutions 26-058 through 26-067 and 26-070. Cohen seconded. The vote was all ayes.

The engineering contract, based on a Feb. 4, 2026, proposal from Greenman-Pedersen, carries a not-to-exceed amount of $28,000 for professional engineering services, according to township meeting minutes. That figure covers engineering work only. The construction contractor and total project cost have not been identified in available records.

Leaf collection changes ahead

The township warned that November leaf collection in the construction area will run on an adjusted schedule. Revised pickup dates have not yet been released. The township said the change is necessary to protect fresh pavement from damage by leaf collection equipment.

Residents on both Long Hill Drive and Dale Drive should watch for updated schedules. The township said additional notices will follow as work progresses, with the adjusted leaf collection dates coming once they are finalized.
