Tony Boys Sandwich House, the cutlet chain that launched in Livingston in 2017, is growing again. The sandwich shop opened a new Cranford location in late September and has two more New Jersey stores planned for this winter.

Owner Anthony Marra Jr. told NJ.com the Cranford store at 102-C North Union Ave. has beaten early projections. "We have gotten off to a great start. Better than we anticipated," he said.

The chain now operates five locations: Livingston, Madison, Montclair, Montville and Cranford. According to the company's website, shops in Wayne and Denville are listed as coming soon.

The Wayne location will sit at 239 Berdan Ave. Franchisee Bill Levy brought the site to Marra, who said the team spent months finding a spot near schools rather than along a major highway. In Denville, the shop will open at 2 Broadway. That location represents a two-year search by franchisee Carmine Ruta, a Denville resident, according to NJ.com.

Marra said having a franchisee who lives in the community helps the business understand what local customers want. The same setup exists at the Montville store.

Tony Boys built its reputation on hand-breaded, pan-fried chicken and eggplant cutlets. The menu also includes cold sandwiches, ribeye cheesesteaks, 10 varieties of chopped salads and location-specific sandwiches named after local school mascots. The company was founded in Livingston and expanded to Madison, Montville and Montclair before adding Cranford.
