Drivers and residents near Daven Avenue and Microlab Road in Livingston should plan for overnight road closures and possible water disruptions over the next two nights as the township continues a month of water main repairs.

Work on Daven Avenue begins Wednesday, July 29, at 9 p.m. and runs until 5 a.m. Thursday, according to a Livingston Township civic alert published Tuesday, July 28. During that window, the entrance to the shopping center near Daven Avenue will have limited access. Drivers entering or leaving the parking lot must use the rear exit to Industrial Parkway.

The following night, Thursday, July 30, crews shift to Microlab Road. That stretch will be fully closed to traffic from Regent Street to West Mount Pleasant Avenue from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday.

Both projects are weather-dependent.

Water disruptions possible

Residents near either work site may experience water interruptions or discolored water during the overnight hours. The township advises anyone who notices air or discoloration to run the cold water faucet at the sink closest to their water meter until the water clears.

Fourth and fifth water main jobs this month

The Daven Avenue and Microlab Road jobs mark at least the fourth and fifth water main projects Livingston has undertaken in July 2026. Earlier work hit Hickory Place on July 14, Crest Terrace on July 16, and Amelia Avenue on July 21.

Those earlier repairs ran during daytime hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The shift to overnight work, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., is new for this series.

This week's projects are also the first in the July stretch to involve a full road closure and restricted shopping center access.

The township has not announced additional water main work beyond Thursday night's job on Microlab Road. Residents who experience water quality issues after either night of work can contact Livingston Township's Department of Public Works.
